Teeth Whitening Kits
For those looking to brighten their smile and improve their self-esteem, teeth whitening is a great option. Teeth whitening is the process by which a person whitens their teeth by using a bleach of some sort, which can be hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, to oxidize the enamel. This will "bleach" the teeth, making them white. It is a slow process and usually takes a couple weeks to see good results. If a person is looking into having their teeth whitened, they should consider using teeth whitening kits. These teeth whitening kits contain a bleach or gel, which contains the bleaching chemical, as well as a method of applying the gel. The method for application of the bleach really depends on the specific teeth whitening kits you decide to purchase.
Teeth Whitening Kits with Trays
Teeth whitening kits can contain many different types of applicators for the bleach. One possible applicator is trays, which are the predominant choice for dentists who offer teeth whitening services. These dentists will take a mold of your teeth, which will be used to cast a set of trays. These trays are what the bleaching agent is placed in. The trays then are inserted in your mouth, around your teeth, so the bleach can have full exposure to the teeth. Normally, you would only place the bleach on the teeth, which are to be whitened. You don't have much reason to waste bleaching on whitening your back teeth, which are not visible when you smile. If you decide you do not want to visit a dentist for your teeth whitening kits, you can go with over the counter teeth whitening kits, which are usually cheaper, but not as effective.
Over the counter teeth whitening kits with trays will adhere to the same idea as the kits you would get from your dentist. The trays will still hold the bleach and will be inserted into your mouth. The difference is that you don't get a perfect mold of your teeth with the trays. The trays come generic and must be molded by the user. To do this, the trays are inserted into really hot water, let sit for a couple seconds, then removed and placed directly in the mouth. You bite down on the trays, which are made of rubber and when hot, are malleable. Your biting will create a mold of your teeth in the trays. While this is a fairly effective way to mold the trays, it is not as effective as the trays you would get from your dentist. But if you are short on money and this is your only option, it is not a bad one.
Teeth Whitening Kits and Your New Smile
After you have used your teeth whitening kits for a couple weeks, you should see a modest increase in the whiteness of your teeth. You will not see an overnight difference, but if you are patient, you will be surprised with how much whiter your teeth have become. Others will notice your new smile, too. Do not be surprised when people start complimenting you on your new smile!
