Teeth Whitening Gel
There are many different ways to whiten your teeth. There are trays, strips, pens, etc. All of these methods require the same chemicals to work, however. You have to have a bleaching agent in the teeth whitening product. Without this bleaching product, you will not be able to whiten your teeth. Of these methods of application, all have bleach in them in some way. Commonly, the bleaching chemical is called teeth whitening gel. The teeth whitening gel normally contains hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. Either way, you will get the same results: whiter teeth. If this is your goal, you should look into getting teeth whitening gel and some method of applying it.
Teeth Whitening Gel Trays as a Method of Application
Once you have decided you want to whiten your teeth, you will need to decide what type of product you want to use. There are different methods of applying the teeth whitening gel to the teeth to allow it to bleach them. The most popular method is to use trays to whiten the teeth. If you go to the dentist to get your whiter smile, you will have to get a mold taken of your teeth. This is done at the dentist's office. From this mold, a set of trays specifically formed to your teeth is made. These trays will ensure all of your teeth are properly exposed to the teeth whitening gel. The trays you get from your dentist will be more expensive than those you would get via over the counter products, but will also be more effective at whitening your teeth. This is due to the fact they are made specifically for you.
If you decide to go with over the counter trays, you will have to mold the trays to your teeth at home. The process isn't nearly as effective, but can help the trays work better than generic trays would. You will have to dip the trays in really hot water (just below boiling) and leave them in for a few seconds. After which time, you will take them out and put them in your mouth. They will be hot, but not unbearably so. You will bite down to make an impression of your teeth. As they dry, they will keep the same impression. This will help to get better exposure of your teeth to the bleach.
Teeth Whitening Gel Strips as a Method of Application
If you do not want to use trays and prefer to go with a cheaper option, you can use strips as a method of delivering teeth whitening gel. Theses strips are small and coated with the teeth whitening gel, which contains the bleaching chemical. These strips are sticky and will adhere to your teeth while the bleach is delivered. Generally, they would only cover those teeth, which need to be whitened. After a few minutes, the strips are removed and your brush your teeth. This is the procedure you will repeat for approximately two weeks. After that, you should see improvement in the whiteness of your teeth, all thanks to the teeth whitening gel.
